LABTOS, located in Westminster, California, is a dental manufacturing company owned by Jason Lee. The business produces generic standardized dental tools in large quantities for dental suppliers. Jason also operates 2XTOOL, a related dental tool business that specializes in manufacturing custom tools for dental laboratories that use them to fabricate dental products for dentists.

Through the OCIE SBDC’s partnership with the City of Westminster, Jason participated in the Westminster Level Up Marketing Grant and Training Program. The program combined training, one-on-one consulting, and grant funding to help local businesses strengthen their marketing, AI knowledge and digital reach. As part of the program, Jason worked with his SBDC consultant to review his online presence, better understand his website performance, and explore tools such as AI platforms, Google Ads, Yelp Ads, and Google Analytics.

The SBDC helped Jason assess how customers were finding and interacting with his websites, including audience demographics, device usage, discovery categories, and other behavioral insights. This gave him a clearer understanding of his customer journey and how digital marketing and AI tools could help improve visibility, engagement, and customer conversion.

Jason shared: “Before this program, I did not know all the tools from platforms like Google Ads and Yelp Ads. My 1:1 with my consultant was the first time I accessed my Google Analytics profile and had the opportunity to start learning so much more about all that Google Ads had to offer.”

As a result of completing the Westminster Level Up Marketing Grant and Training Program, LABTOS received $5,000 to support digital growth efforts, including website improvements, email marketing, and online advertising strategies leveraging AI platforms. Jason later received an additional $2,500 through the City of Westminster Digital Tech for Transformation Grant and Training Program, further supporting the business’s investment in digital tools and online visibility. These programs and the accompanying SBDC assistance helped LABTOS strengthen its digital presence, better understand its customer base, and apply marketing strategies more intentionally. With improved visibility and digital marketing knowledge, the business experienced a $300,000 increase in sales.

Jason valued the opportunity to learn how digital and AI tools could support his business growth, especially since many of his clients are located overseas. Through the SBDC’s guidance, he was able to better understand who was visiting his websites, where they were coming from, and how to improve the customer conversion journey. If you’re a small business owner in Orange, Riverside, or San Bernardino County looking to sharpen your digital strategy and grow your customer base, connect with the OCIE SBDC to learn about their no-cost consulting, training programs, and access to local grant opportunities.
